The have finally found their head coach in Klint Kubiak, and once the Super Bowl is over, they can officially hire him and Kubiak can begin putting his staff together. With Kubiak likely to call plays, there's a lot more focus on who the defensive coordinator will be rather than the offensive coordinator. While it's still too early to know who the candidates will be, has thrown out one po sible name: defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz. "As for Schwartz, if hes not back in Cleveland, I wouldnt be surprised to see Klint Kubiak make a run at landing him, once he coaches his last game as [offensive coordinator] on Anton Malmstrom Jersey Sunday," Breer wrote. Schwartz, who is still under contract in Cleveland, was a candidate for the Browns' head-coach job before it went to Todd Monken. As Breer points out, the Browns want to keep Schwartz, but reports suggest he was none-too-pleased about not landing the head-coach gig and now wants out. "Speaking of Schwartz, the Browns are still trying to get him to stay under new coach Todd Monken. For those who mi sed it last week: Schwartz remains under contract, but told people during Clevelands coaching search that the only way hed stay would be as head coach. He wasnt pleased, as you might imagine, when he didnt get the job, so itll be interesting to see if the Browns can rope him back in," Breer explained. Schwartz would be a fantastic hire for a few reasons. For starters, he's an elite defensive coordinator and one of the most respected defensive minds in the NFL. The Raiders' defense will be better the second he arrives in Las Vegas. Adding to that, Schwartz is a former head coach and his experience in that area will be invaluable to a first-time head coach like Kubiak. If the Raiders can hire Schwartz, they will have an elite defensive coordinator and one of the top offensive play-callers in the league from 2025.
